A blanket of familiar faces for someone in hospice care
In a hospice room or a hospital bed, most of what surrounds a person is not theirs. A blanket with their family on it is. It is warm, it is within reach, and it gives visitors something to talk about.
Our Favorite Memories Photo
Four photos, one message, endless rewatching.
Four faces they know, with a title in your own words.
A Hug From - Long Distance
For the people who live too far away.
From one person who cannot be there every day: their face and their message.
Family Name
Your surname, big, on the back of the couch.
Everyone's first name under the family name. No photos, and the fastest to arrive.
Choosing the photos
Pick photos where the faces are large and clearly lit. A blanket in a bed is looked at up close, often without glasses, so four clear faces do more than one crowded group shot. Older photographs are welcome: lay a print flat in daylight and photograph it straight on.
Keeping the words short
Names help. The Family Name design lists everyone's first name. A Hug From has a line for who it is from and up to four short lines of message. Write what you would say sitting beside the bed.
Afterwards
A blanket like this goes home with the family. It is worth choosing photographs you will want to keep.
